Saul Sopoci Drake

Saul Sopoci Drake is an exhibitions developer/project director with the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) and has been working in the museum field professionally for just under 20 years. Saul is inspired by the challenge of developing and promoting new and unique ways of telling stories through exhibitions.

Most recently, he has had the privilege of carrying this out through esteemed organizations such as SITES, the Mitchell Museum of the American Indian, and the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Seminole Tribe Museum. His specialties include Community Co-curation, Exhibition Development (permanent, temporary, and traveling), incorporating effective brainstorming techniques into exhibition development, and telling effective stories in exhibitions.

Over the course of his work, Saul has become attuned to how exhibition developers need to reach out to people and communities in innovative ways. He has always been passionate about sharing his experiences in a multitude of ways, whether it is through leading instructional programs, presenting at conferences, or mentoring interns. Being able to “pay it forward” is of great personal interest.

He has a M.S. in Cultural Anthropology and a Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
